Bike Trek #2
I have not spent this much time on a bike in some years....like 20!!!
On my most recent long ride, I picked a route through Richmond, a part of the city I don't often see.
For some reason I am always hesitant about doing the long rides....I guess I'm still doubting my ability to do this...I picked Richmond because its flat!!
But what I have noticed, is that once I start going, the glorious scenery of where I live takes over my thoughts. Last Saturday I completed 30km through farmland, industrial areas and urban streets. I have to say the farm land is the best.
While I laugh at the thought of rolling by farms in the heat of the summer, it wasn't the 'bad' smell of farms...this was wonderful and glorious. I rode by rows of corn, a field of horses, goats, and lots of ducks, and the best part - a TON of blueberry farms!!
When I was done, I went back and got myself a whole pint and ate them all within minutes!!
I also have a new appreciation for where I live, and I'm so grateful for my body's ability to move and breathe.
Sitting on a bike for hours at a time gives me a lot of time to think, and I'm very grateful for that too.
Until next time - Cheers, Ami
